Williams Center
Performing Arts Center and Wellness Center
|
The Williams Center has become an integral part of daily life in the Oelwein community since its opening in 2002. The facility, named in honor of major benefactor Churchill Williams, benefits both the bodies and minds of area residents and guests, and is truly a cultural center, offering education, entertainment, and wellness.

Performing Arts Center
This modern auditorium for the performing arts seats 800 people. Entertainers of regional and national fame are scheduled this season as well as local school and community performers. Always comfortable seating and controlled temperatures!
Stained glass installed...
The Williams Center took on a look of music and the arts when 18 panels of stained glass windows were installed in the foyer. The image is a musical score beginning with the G cleft, flowing some 40-feet across the east side of the building, interspersed with one panel of dancers and one of the tragedy/comedy drama mask. A group of some 30 talented and ambitious Oelwein volunteers under the tutelage of Oelwein artist Connie Kerns completed the project.
COMING PERFORMANCES...
Feb. 27, 2010 - Sat. 7pm - Robert Robinson (Gospel Singer) - Robert is a premier African-American gospel singer who hails from the Twin Cities area. Robert has been singing gospel music since he was four and continues to sing in his home church. The creme de la creme!
March 5, 2010 - Fri. 7pm - Slide (Irish Band) - Slide has been featured by various magazines as one of the better Irish bands. They hail from Ireland and their music recalls the traditional powerhouse of music from Daire Bracken. They sing, they dance, and they will play their way into the Irish hearts of everyone.
March 23, 2010 - Tues. 7pm - The Millers (Blues/Blues Rock) - A family blues band who could be portrayed as performing music somewhere between B.B. King and Bob Dylan. They were a hit on "America's Got Talent". This family group features a teenage member of the family on the harmonica who is considered a phenum.
April 17, 2010 - Sat. 7pm - Tonic Sol-fa (Mens Quartet) - Another group from the Twin Cities, this quartet has been named in the top five groups to see in America. Not only have they been featured on the NBC Today Show, but also in the pages of Newsweek. Other outings have included performance time with Jay Leno, Shawn Colvin, Lonestar and Garrison Keillor. They have sold more than a million copies of their various albums (CDs). A must see group!
